LONG WEEKEND

TGIF? *sigh* We'll have 4 days of public holiday (Labour Day, Maulidul Rasul, Wesak & xtra day) starting tomorrow. I actually dread long periods of inactivity. I crave the busy feeling though I may blak...blak...blak... bout it. Yeah, I am the future workaholic, the one whose work is her life and prefer life in constant motion. Err, can a slacker extraordinaire can be a workaholic at the same time? Why not? =)

What to do during the long weekend? Umm, maybe i'll write about the way to make a good presentation. Or maybe I'll go swimming and meet some friends. Otherwise, hit the 'sleep' button and wake up on wednesday (just kidding).

This is a thought provoking article by Kim Wang. Kim, you have what it takes to be a good writer. Ever thought of doing this seriously? Hehehe.

Ohmigosh... I gotta go to the library to get some books to sustain me during this long weekend. Till wednesday then.

Take care everyone.

OH MY HEAD!!!

Was thinking of discussing something here today. But then my lab was used by my juniors for presentation. Listening to their buzzings (sounds like bees swarming around bzzzzzzzzzzzzz) gave me such a huge headache. Even my jelingan MAUT also failed to hush these people up. *sigh* Wanted to sound them but then, they'll probably be scared of me for the rest of their years here pulak (will elaborate on this some other time).

Can't these people see that during presentations, when others are presenting their work, you are supposed to pay attention. I have endured this since my undergraduate days though I am happy that I have always managed to get people to pay attention by using ways and means to get them to listen.

C'mon people, when you have really worked hard to prepare something to be presented, the researching, typing, etc., you'll be so disappointed when you stand right up there and see the others not paying attention and chatting along. All your labour wasted on these 'bees'.

Even when the speaker is so monotonously boring and seems to keep droning on and on, please do not start chattering at the back there. It demoralizes the speaker. Rather, try doing something else (draw or sketch ke) and be sure to sekali-sekala angkat kepala, look at the presenter. Show that at least you macam listening lah.

What makes a good presentation? I will write on this later. Right now, I have to go back. Rest until this headache goes away.

p/s:Rather tense entry. Need to blow some steam off.

Classes, Classes and More Classes

*sigh* This week will be having classes every night. This means that I will not be free the whole week nights. The rush is due to the pressure to finish the whole thing a few weeks before my finals. Final exam will be on 28th May. *sigh* Which means, I have to reaaaly rush home for the Gawai Celebration.

The subject I am taking this semester is called 'Cognition & Organizational Behavior'. Interesting subject. Thanks to my lecturer Pn. Mai, a very excellent specimen of lecturer who never fails to make each lecture interesting. We have discussions just about anything.

Right now I'm thinking of what I am going to do after I complete my masters. Am thinking of working first and then maybe continue to my Ph.D. Either majoring in Psychology or T&D. We'll see.

Am asking myself when am i going to start doing my assignment? Argh! Do I have to wait until my arse is on fire? Argh!

Okay, resolution to self:

A Change Will Do Some Good =)

Decided to change the skin of my blog. Someone commented that the ol' one looks a tad eerie, scary and gloomy. Plus, I'm also tired of the old one so I'm searching for a new skin that reflects more of what I am.

The new skin sorta reflect my passion for music (Hence, the singing session that lasts well past midnight) and fun. That leads me to a question. What type of a person am I? Hmmm... Let me ponder it first. Tell y'all bout it later.

In Memory of...

This entry is dedicated to the memory of Kak Lina of my faculty who passed away this morning. Her brain tumour burst and she fell in the bathroom. The emergency operation failed to save her. She just gave birth to her child less than two weeks ago.

I first met Kak Lina in my first year in UNIMAS. She was one of the staffs in my faculty. She was very helpful and always cheerful. Just meeting her will help ease what ever burden you may feel. We can always come to see her in encountering problems to ask for advice or help. Three years down the road, I am a postgrad student and Kak Lina remains friendly and helpful as ever.

The last time I met her was a few weeks ago, before she had her maternity leave. I was walking to the library and she was walking to the loo. She waved to me and we exchanged our hellos and goodbyes. She commented that she seldom see me around. I never thought that would be our last meeting.

Kak Lina, we love you and we know that we'll miss you very much. May you rest in peace.

Glenn Fredly - Januari

berat bebanku..meninggalkanmu
separuh nafas jiwaku.... sirna
bukan salahmu.....apa dayaku
mungkin cinta sejati tak berpihak.. pada kita

reff :
kasihku..sampai disini kisah kita
jangan tangisi keadaannya
bukan karena kita berbeda
dengarkan dengarkan lagu... lagu ini
melodi rintihan hati ini
kisah kita berakhir di januari

selamat tinggal kisah sejatiku
oh..... pergilah..........

back to reff

*** Beautiful song. Loved it. The emotions are so powerful in this song. A song about the end of a relationship (based on Glenn's break up with his girlfriend). Coincidentally, my relationship also ended last January so I guess that is why I can connect to this song. A bit of what I went through when my relationship ended last January. =)

TUMMY SONG

My tummy is grumbling as I am typing this entry. Screaming for food. Had to fast since last midnight for my blood sugar test. Sabarlah perut ku sayang...

The blood sugar test was funny of some sorts. I've always had phobia where it involves getting poked with needle (Especially when it involves blood or medication) Hehehe... I haven't outgrown this eternal fear at the sight of a syringe/what-ever-the-Doc-use-to-poke-us. So back to the scene in the clinic.
The nurse was preparing to prick my finger to get a drop of blood. Cold sweat start to trickle down my forehead.

I keep on asking the nurse, "Tak sakit ke? (Will it hurt?)"
"Tak... Sikit je (No, just a weeny bit)"
"Betul ke? Macam mana tak sakit nya tu? (Really? How not painful is that?)"
I think I'm starting to get on her nerve lah by now... Hihihi
"Tak sakit lah. You ni nampak je brutal yek, tapi takut jarum. (Not painful. You look like very brutal but scared of needles)"

(Yes people that's me. I am afraid of needles. Heheheh)

Finally, terpaksa lah tahan. But then, there's no pain pun. Cheh, buat penat aku je nak takut. Aiya...

"Eh, tak sakit pun. (Eh, there's no pain at all)" Surprise, surprise.
The nurse just geleng kepala and smiled. "Kan dah cakap (I've told you already"
Probably dalam hati she's puzzled and gelak-gelak kat aku. Hehehehe....

Then, the result... Normal sugar level at 4.7. Phew, this means that I am normal. Yeyeah...

Ok, gotta go. Satisfy my perut. Catch y'all later...

DOCTORS AND LEGS

The past few weeks or months, I've been suffering from partial loss of sensation in my left foot. Been seeing the doctor and taking medication but with little improvement. Actually was supposed to meet the doctor again a few weeks back but just couldn't find the time to go see the doctor (and the clinic is just next to my faculty!)

Finally after much pressure and proddings (not to mention threats) from my friends, I decided to see the doctor again. This time, the Doctor will put me under another round of continuous medication and a blood test tomorrow to check my sugar level to rule out diabetes. *sigh*

Tonight will have to fast and go to the clinic again at 9 am. Many thanks to the good Dr. Norrihan from UNIMAS clinic for giving me a detailed explanation of my condition. Thanks, Doc!
RESULTS ARE OUT!!!

My 1st Semester result is out today.

Hmmm... Both relieved and a weeny bit disappointed. I was relieved as the subject that i thought i would do badly (or worse even, have to re-sit), I actually got a B for it. Another subject which i was expecting an A- (at least) I got B+ for it. Well, you win some, you lose some.

Overall, didn't do badly in last semester, at least my CGPA is still 3.4+. Hope this semester I will do much waaayy better. =) Nak rasa dapat 4 flat lah pulak eh.

Wish me all the best people! =)

Another Free Week! and Surprises!!

Another free week. Both my classes are cancelled this week so I'm so free. I think I'm gonna be soooo bored. Have to read the books but knowing myself, I'll start reading it at the eleventh hour-lah. Heheh. Slacker extraordinaire mar.
So, I really, desperately need to find a job. Otherwise I'll be so damn bored.

A friend called. Maybe will be teaching temporarily at her school replacing someone on maternity leave. Heheheh.

Last Sunday was so embarassing. Went to church for the Palm Sunday Mass (to celebrate Jesus' entry to Jerusalem before His death). Thought the Mass would start at 10 am but when we arrived there, the Mass was over. Apparently, they held only one service during Holy Days. Argh!!! Malu. (made a mental note to myself that day: Never miss Mass ever again).

What's the surprise? My good, close buddy, Ina, is getting married!!! Waaagh!!! I almost kena heart attack when i read her mail. Angin tak dak, ribut tak dak, tiba2 announce to me that she's getting married in June. Some more ask me be the bridesmaid. Wargh!!! So, Ina, u better tell me the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Heheheh... U got me girl!!!

To the future Bride, may your journey in discovering the path to marital bliss be blessed with love and joy. May your love withstand the trials and tribulations and be stronger with each passing day. *mwah*

Of Movies and Music

The past few days was rather laid back as my class hasn’t started yet. So, what's a slacker extraordinaire to do? What else but to watch some VCDs and laze around. Heheh… Watched ‘School of Rock’. This movie sure rocks. Really enjoyed it. =) The girls’ vocals in this movie is amazing (if they’re really singing in this movie lah). Jack Black is funny in his intense way in this movie. This movie reminds me how much I missed watching jamming sessions. *sigh* Last time my uni used to held jamming sessions every Wednesday but for whatever reasons they’ve cancelled it. I really missed those days when I ‘lepak’ with my friends and listen to the music.

Also watched '50 first dates'. This movie is a hilarious one. A wonderful romantic comedy that sure tickles ur heart into 'Awww... so sweet...'. Hehehe. Don't wanna spoil u the surprise, go and watch it yourself kay... =)

Been listening to my CDs lately. Mostly Sheryl Crow. I simply love her music. ‘My Favorite Mistake’ has always been my favorite song (let’s see… Since 1998, if I’m not wrong). Here's the lyric for the song.

MY FAVORITE MISTAKE

I woke up and called this morning
The tone of your voice was a warning
That you don't care for me anymore

I made up the bed we sleep in
I looked at the clock when you creep in
It's 6 a.m. and I'm alone

Did you know when you go
It's the perfect ending
To the bad day I was just beginning
When you go all I know is
You're my favorite mistake

Well, your friends are sorry for me
They watch you pretend to adore me
But I'm no fool to this game

Now here comes your secret lover
She'd be unlike any other
Until your guilt goes up in flames

Did you know when you go
It's the perfect ending
To the bad day I've gotten used to spending
When you go all I know is
You're my favorite mistake
You're my favorite mistake

Well maybe nothin' lasts forever
Even when you stay together
I don't need forever after
It's your laughter won't let me go
So I'm holding on this way

Did you know, could you tell
You were the only one
That I ever loved
Now everything's so wrong

Did you see me walking by?
Did it ever make you cry?

You're my favorite mistake
You're my favorite mistake
You're my favorite mistake

Hmm… Somehow, I felt that I can identify myself in that song. Met someone that i thought is perfect for me, ignoring all the signs that it's going nowhere, sacrificing until i finally realized that maybe I'll be better off and happier without the relationship. Listened to this song when my relationship was going through a rough and rocky phase. Even though the relationship has ended, I know that this mistake is my favorite one. To you-know-who-u-are, thanks for the two years we've spent together. We've had good memories together. We'll remain as friends always.
