Snapshots: My Saturday

Today is another working saturday for me, we're having some functions at school cum 'sekolah sabtu ganti/replacement schoolday'. Nothing worth mentioning about the function, it was the usual boring affair with endless speeches.

Luckily I'm looking forward to do this...

???

Where's the post? the posts? the posts?

Sorry dearies, currently preoccupied and with the exams coming near and my KL trip, I have not the time or strength to drag myself to post something. There are interesting things, but due extreme time constraint, I am yet to get to writing a proper post. My bad. So, guess I'll keep those for another day ya...

Close To You : The Carpenters

Why do birds
Suddenly appear?
Everytime you are near
Just like me
They long to be
Close to you

Why do stars
Fall down from the sky?
Everytime you walk by
Just like me
They long to be
Close to you

(*) On the day that you were born
The angels got together and decided
To create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moondust in your hair
Of gold and starlight in your eyes of blue

(**) That is why all the girls in town
Follow you all around
Just like me
They long to be
Close to you

Repeat (*)
Repeat (**)

Just like me
They long to be
Close to you

Woo... Close to you...

This is one of my all time favourite songs. I never get tired of listening to this song. Very mellow and sweet. :-)

I'm Yours - Jason Mraz

Well you done done me and you bet I felt it
I tried to be chill but you're so hot that I melted
I fell right through the cracks
and now I'm trying to get back
Before the cool done run out
I'll be giving it my best
Nothing's going to stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some

I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I'm yours

Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
Listen to the music of the moment maybe sing with me
I like peaceful melodies
And It's our God-forsaken right to be loved love loved love loved

So I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I'm sure
There's no need to complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate, I'm yours

I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
My breath fogged up the glass
And so I drew a new face and laughed
I guess what i be saying is there ain't no better reason
To rid yourself of vanity and just go with the seasons
It's what we aim to do
Our name is our virtue

I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I'm sure
There's no need to complicate
Our time is short
this is our fate, I'm yours

Well no no, well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find the sky is yours
Listen to the music of the moment come and dance with me
It's your God-forsaken right to be loved love love love

I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I'm sure
There's no need to complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate, I'm yours

No please, don't complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate, I'm yours

No please, don't hesitate
no more, no more
It cannot wait
The sky is yours!

His Hotness 007

When they first announced that Daniel Craig will be the new Bond to replace Pierce Brosnan, my first thought was...

"Daniel who?"
Sean Connery, the original 007, making hearts go a flutter

I was skeptical because no one would be at par with the original 007, Sean Connery. I mean, Sean Connery IS 007. Sexy, suave and uber cool. Tall, dark and handsome. You geddit? Sean Connery, dark hair. Pierce Brosnan - dark hair. Roger Moore - dark hair.

On the other hand, Daniel Craig is blond. I've never seen a blond Bond before. I guess everyone in the press and 007 fanatic die hard fan held stones in their hands, ever ready to condemn Daniel Craig if he sucked as 007.

Imagine my surprise when I watched Casino Royale and I saw this...

Oooohhh... *faint*faint*

And soon he will be reprising his role as 007 again in the latest movie Quantum of Solace (what does it mean anyway?)

Mmmmm... Sedap

Eureka Moment : Vocab lesson

It was just a day like any other day at work. It was a wet morning because of the rain and the air was so cool that I was shivering. Wearing a silk batik kebarung (it's Batik Day remember?) was not a very good idea since the material did not provide enough protection from the cold weather. Damn it, why can't we wear trousers to work? It will definitely ease our movement and then shield us from the ever discerning eyes of the miang-miang pucuk keladi boys.

I went to one of my classes, planning to teach them vocabulary. Why? Since I'm planning for them to write an essay on their dream holiday destination, I want them to have the vocabulary items that they'll need for the task (to save me from the headaches) .

It was just after recess. They've just had their meal. They looked sleepy.

Siap la korang! (They were lucky I just had my compulsory mug of coffee. Otherwise...)

I delivered the lesson, where we discussed and listed the things that they'll be able to perceive through their senses when they're at the seaside.

After they've understood what they need to do, I asked them to list the words associated with a few other destinations/locations. Some were diligently doing the task with full concentration while a few were busy chatting and being 'jellyfish' on their desks despite me reminding them.

So, at the end of the lesson, I asked them to submit their work. One student, bless his soul, asked;
"Eh, need to submit ah?"

Me (with evil grin)
"Yes my dear, this is your vocabulary test. "

Their facial expressions looked somewhat like this:

Hah! Next time buat la lagi! Malas-malas la nak buat latihan. Muahahahaha!!!!

What I think?

Currently listening to this song and loved it so much. Everything was done in such a beautiful way that it's seamless perfection. Loved the melody and the lyrics. I'm not really a fan of Iban songs (except certain singers like Jerry Kamit, Ernesto, Niang Michael Jemat, Wilbert & Hazaliza's Seidup Sejalai ), I don't really listen to Iban songs since almost all are either dangdut or joget-inspired that it's something like bubblegum. It tasted nice at first until it loses the flavour. And don't get me started on the 'ciplak' songs.

To Ethnic Transmission - Sweet work you guys. We need more bands like you to jumpstart a new era for the local music scene.

Ceritera Sang Homo Beruksial

Disclaimer: This post is may or may not be based on real people or real life events. In case there's similarities to anyone still living, breathing and smelling smelly kentut, or gone kaput, it is highly regretted. not... Hahaha
The Evolution of Man, they say.

I discovered something today.

Something big.

I discovered that there are certain people left behind in the evolution of mankind.

I believe that this particular specimen is stuck somewhere between homo habilis and homo erectus. Let's call this specimen homo beruksial.

Characteristics of a homo beruksial is as follows:
#1.
Incompetent ignoramus nincompoop but likes to display so-called super-competence. It likes to view itself as an indispensable part of the organization machinery, when in fact, even toilet papers are more useful.

#2
Suffers from delusions that it is better than everyone else (not human so cannot refer using he/she la). Thus, it frequently attempts to exert its so called influence or superiority over others. This is when it becomes amusing to watch its antics. It expects a response from others, especially anger so it can do #7. However, the best way to super peeve it is by giving no response at all. Biar nya jak bodo kedirik mpun. Sak tekanan darah nya nait, lekak ya nya mati. Aman dunia.

#3
If it meets a human being that is better than it, then, it will either try to imitate (will sure fail miserably here, beruk la kata kan) or try to harm the human. Ever heard of the saying 'bagai beruk mendapat bunga?'

#4
Since it haven't fully mastered the human language, it is very prone to spinning false tales and stories. Beruk mana reti bahasa manusia?

#5
It particularly enjoys watching others claw each other's eyes out due to #4. Tengok je la beruk kat hutan, tau-tau je la perangai macam mana.

#6
Just as HIV originated from apes, this specimen also carries lethal infectious viruses. Virus kepapasan and Virus keseredahan. Highly contagious so do keep away. At all times.

#7
Just as its not so distant cousin, beruk sarkas, this specimen is also entertaining to observe. It likes to act as the martyr, especially in front of more superior beings. It likes to play the part of the victim when it's actually the villain. Baling batu lepas tu pura-pura terkena batu.

The particular specimen that I discovered was particularly interesting. Disguising as an intellectual and religious person, it actually posses such lethal venomous intent at others. For instance, let's study this scenario:

The day before:
BS (Beruksial or bullshit) complained to PT (a homo sapiens) that it was being bullied into doing the humans' work. It complained that it was burdened by doing all the work and that the humans are a bossy lot.
(note: BS agreed to do the work in the first place and the humans are just following the instructions. Wait, beruk mana reti ikut arahan? Duh!)

Today:
BS told another human that yesterday it was scolded by PT for doing all the work alone.
(Like, huh?)

Ai, kesian la kau beruk. Cuma ada ingatan jangka pendek je. Patut pun ko bodoh macam sial.

Snapshots: Self Portraits?

Smile at the world because a life lived without smiling is a life wasted. Dwell not on worries and the trials of life. What benefit will come out of worrying over some things that are just not worth worrying. Just accept the facts that things happen for a reason (and it's gotta be a damn good reason) and there are things beyond our control. Live life, smile, laugh, roll in bed and sing that song.

Watch. Observe. Listen. The greatest classroom to learn life is the real world.

Take time to retreat into self. Reflect and relax the soul. Give that special TLC to self. Love yourself first and foremost. Do things that make you feel good about yourself. The best make up is the inner make up, not those on our skin. Let the inner beauty glow from within.

Get crazy. Don't give a damn what others may think. Be eccentric. Be mysterious. Never let others dictate how we live, feel and act. Be goofy. Fun is never this fun.

There's a certain time that calls for us to stare down the opponent. So, stand your ground and defend your values and principles. Don't be a self-defeatist. There's always a crouching tiger, hidden dragon in each of us.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
p/s: Am currently quite pissed of with someone who is supposed to work as part of the team. During the briefing by the PPG ppl, only one PQ need to go to the exam centre to observe and check the preparations at the exam centre. Since it's her own stesen bertugas, naturally the easiest way to do it is she oversee the preparations, furthermore she herself agreed to it. Penuh bersemangat lagi tu.. so WHY THE BLO*DY F*CK is she making a fuss out of it now?!

Aku tak paham la manusia macam ni. Suka sangat mencari publisiti murahan dan mempromosi diri at the expense of others.

Eureka Moment : How to Keep Your Students Awake and Alert during 2.30 pm Class

The extra classes (or Kelas Bimbingan Akademik) for the kids in exam classes (Form 3, 5 and Upper 6) have started. Not much of a burden since I'm teaching only one SPM class and at the same time, I can focus on improving their achievements in English.

The only problem, my slot is at 2.30 pm. The most sleepy hour in the afternoon. That's when all the carbs from lunch are making their eyes very sleepy. I don't need a crystal ball to
see the problem.

Then, the 'Eureka' moment happened. I suddenly got an idea to keep them awake, alert and active for my extra class. Hehehe...
The secret is...

....

...

...

...

...

...

... Everytime a student (chosen by yours truly) gives the wrong answer or response (for something that was taught a million times already), their table partner will give them a slap. On the cheek.

None of my students slept.
And they finally managed to concentrate and understand.
Mission accomplished.

Muahahahahahahhahahaha! *evil laugh*

-----------------------------------------------
Note: In case any of you are thinking that I mendera (physically abusing) the students, It wasn't a tooth-breaking/lip-bleeding kinda slap... More of a 'tampar2 manja' / playful slap. Hahahaha
