Snapshots: Student's Answers

My form 5 students' answer for their essay. Even though it's difficult to understand (my Mum thought I was hysterics when I laughed one minute, growled the next), I give them credit for trying.
At least they make the effort to answer, unlike the others who simply submitted blank sheets of paper to me.

About Teachers (Myths vs Facts)

1. Teachers only work for half day
This is the biggest misconception people have about teachers. Yes, teachers teach according to the stipulated school time but most of the teachers' work is done post-school time. Once that school bell rings at the end of the school session, teachers still have those extra-curricular activities, extra classes, mountains of books to be checked and lessons to prepare. Of course there may be some teachers who've found various ways to handle these workloads but most would agree that a teacher only rests when we sleep, that is if we don't have nightmares about our students.

2. Teaching is easy
Yes, if you are teaching a bunch of robots. The reality is, more often than not, we are put in a classroom with no fewer than 30 students. Imagine trying to teach the Pythagoras Theorem or Past Participle to 30-odd something pimpled, sweaty, noisy, disruptive teenagers who couldn't care less. Still think that we have it easy?

3. Teachers have long holidays
This I can't deny. After spending most of our days with those kids, we NEED the holiday to rejuvenate our body, mind and soul, and hopefully, regain our sanity. But sometimes, we still have those courses to attend, Public Exams to invigilate and not forgetting, taking turns to 'jaga sekolah'. (Personally, I get bored to death when it's end-of-the-Year school holidays. Memang workaholic nutcase)

4. Teachers only teach
As I wrote in my previous post here, teachers are multi-skilled people, sort of like Jack of All Trades, Master in Everything. Every time there's a school function, you can bet your last ten sen that the organizing committee are teachers. emcee, scriptwriter, program book, protocol, gifts, jamuan, just name it.
Teachers = teacher-sportsperson-paramedic-manager-administrator-etc-etc-etc

*** to be continued. To teachers out there (Grace, Cuthess, Dunstan), add your myths vs facts in the comments. I'll add 'em here.

Rant #1 Stalker Alert / Rant #2 Male Pig

--These rants are targetted to 2 different Individuals

Rant #1
I am getting tired of this.

Because of this problem I've had to to change my blog address a few times. It drives me and my blogging mates crazy to change my links all the time.

I thought that it is enough.

Until today, when I clicked that little' 'who's viewed me' link in my friendster and ...

Damn! Get a life already. This is getting sickeningly disgusting.

It is OVER so get over it already!!!

Rant #2

You bloody-a$hole!!!
You got the nerve to tell me that
"orang Indu anang belaki laun...Enggai ka tusah beranak"
Females should get married early so that it is easy to give birth.

You f**king bastard!
I never know you and you don't know me. The closest link you have with me is through your wife's YM (What the hell are you doing with your wife's YM ID anyway??? I bloody thought that I was chatting with her) and you've got the nerve to say that?!
What the hell do you know about me anyway? Why do you have to f**king care?
It is MY body, MY life and I can do whatever I want with it. So take your gender-biased ASS off my space.

Do all of us a favor, please.
Go f**k yourself... in Hell!!!!

Snapshots: Makan-makan Blogger 3

The 3rd Makan-Makan Blogger was hosted by Grace the Hornbill last Saturday. Cuthess couldn't attend as she had to supervise renovation works in her place (Nda ngawa Cath, Ila kami merasmikan toilet baru nuan..Hehe). La joined us for the first time and we had a merry time enjoying the delicious food and *ahem* singing sessions. I really enjoyed myself and hornbill's place is great. I kind of envy her house with it's own huge area and space without having to endure annoying neighbours. Nganti ku ngaga rumah ba Kim San ila kitai berjiran youuuu....

BBQ Chicken Wings, *ahem* non-halal kambing and some brinjals.

Snapshots: Long House

The Ruai.
A place where the folks mingle and socialize. My longhouse is the longest in the area with 79 biliks/families staying there. Remembered the times when, as a small kid, I raced with my cousins along the ruai much to the annoyance of our elders. Haha... We were a noisy bunch...

A sight that I found to be interesting. A boat that's filled with water.

Golden grains. It's Paddy harvesting season and this means that I will develop rashes from the 'miang padi'. Not that it would stop me from taking photos amid scratching myself raw. Haha

Tekuyung... Snails. My favourite snack. I never eat these with rice. I prefer enjoying it on its own. Mum's Style Goreng Kicap. Yummylicious.

My two nephews posing with Abbie. The two future heartbreakers in the family. Even now had to fend off girls calling the house looking for them. According to a friend who teaches at their school said, these two are hot commodities. Cheh...

I like this picture. Hehe

Working Holiday

While others are probably enjoying their school break, I spent mine chaperoning 61 sweaty smelly kids on their trip to Kuching.
I hate sweaty smelly kids.
I hate sweaty smelly loud and stupid kids even more.

===================

Friday went back to the long house since the next day was the election day.
I went crazy snapping photos until the battery went flat.

I voted for the first time.

Post-Exam Blues

I think I need new glasses.
Marking students' exam papers now. This is what I think; I should be paid (extra) for every exam paper that I read.
2 papers for Form 4, 2 for form 5 and 3 papers for each form 6 class I am teaching.
Aiseh... That's A LOT of handwritings to be read. If all the handwritings were neat, I would be in blissfully happy heaven.
But when I have to put on and remove my glasses a few times, squinting my eyes just to try to distinguish whether it is an 'a' or an 'o', life ain't gonna be rosy. At least not for a few days.
So if I don't update within the next few days, you know why.
Now, excuse me, I want to poke my students' eyes out.

My Ride: Meet Abbie

Shout! : Busy with the Divisional Sepak Takraw Tournament and now I am stuck with being the emcee for (probably) the rest of the year.

Cuthess was nagging me to post something here. Hehe... Not that I didn't want to post anything, I was busy/tired from preparing the mid term papers, emcee-ing the tournament (I just realized sitting on my ass all day actually makes me even more tired than teaching my classes!) and Streamyx is not helping as well. Every time I wanted to go online, the connection was zero, none, nada.

So... What's been happening? Hehehe
Ladies and gentlemen,
meet my new baby, "Abbie" the Avanza. Hehehe *grin*grin*
Drove my baby back (actually Dad drove it la) last Thursday. Am so happy with it, can't believe that I am a car owner now. Went shopping for a car on Monday, bought one the same day (I am a fuss-free shopper) and on Thursday, the salesperson called me to inform me the registration number (I love the number!) and told me that I can bring my baby home. Yipee!
I am so happy with the service given by the salesperson from that company (Bulat Motors in Sarikei) because she is pleasant to deal with, polite and helpful. Not like the 'crazy bitch lady from one BIG car dealer in Sarikei (Hello, just a salesperson and so rude? Ingat aku tak kenal dengan tauke hang ke? Mampus bankrap kedai tauke because you are rude and crazy, patut la mau kena tampar customer hari-hari). Tried to cheat me also. Hell-lo, there are other car dealers around. Haha.. Padan muka, akan ku sebarkan pada kaum kerabat suku sakat aku untuk boikot kedai tu. Yaaa....boikot lah kedai B******. Hahahaha. But pity my cousin, she bought a car just minutes before I came to that shop and she got ripped off.
Back to Abbie (yeah, I named my car. In fact all the cars in my house has their own names. Got a problem with that?), because it is still in 'pantang', I had to drive under 60km/h. Haha, just like a slow giant. At least now, other big big cars will think twice before trying to bully me because I am big also. hehehe...
