5th Month

I am now well into my 2nd trimester... Very happy to report that I don't have my 'morning sickness' anymore but if I take any food that is 'blacklisted', guess what, I'll puke again...

Can already feel the baby moving (when lil' one is hungry, siap lah, kena wachaaa from inside... Sabar lah Nak oiiiiiii!). Hubby still can't feel the movement, maybe in the next few weeks he'll be able to. Next week will go for my check up at Dr. Wendy's clinic so hopefully will be able to see whether it's a boy or a girl... Not that I'm into the blue for boys/pink for girls stuff, I'm getting mostly neutral colours like green, yellow or beige-brown for baby. Boleh guna for the next ones, ye tak?

A few weeks ago also was diagnosed as having GDM (gestational diabetes mellitus). Now have to monitor my blood sugar level and control with diet for the time being. If still high, insulin jabs 3 times a day..Takkkk nakkkkkkk!!!! Nak cucuk telunjuk for the blood glucose test pun dah sekian, ni pulak nak injek2... Oh tidak! So I have to repeat the 7-point blood test every 2 weeks and see the doctor every 2 weeks as well. Haih, everything for you Lil' One... Mummy sanggup minum klorofil perisa rumput and such. Tak nak dengar cakap mak siap la kau Nak oi!

Even had to tone down my 'couching tiger hidden dragon' temper... Rimau bunting terpaksa jadi kucing manja. Why? Tak nak anak ku nanti jadi cengeng Kak oi! Tengik kata mak aku... So, sekarang ini meng'surround'kan diri dengan kegembiraan ala riang ria anak2 Ribena. Harap-harap lah nanti Lil' One akan jadi anak yg riang ria jugak...

Started to prepare a list of things to get for baby. Most of the clothes will be hand me downs from my brother (hand me back jugak la because most of it were given by me jugak dulu... Ha ha ha) since his youngest boy is turning 2 in a few months time. So far concentrating on the essentials first, sapa2 nak donate barang2 baby sangat2 lah dialu-alukan ye... :-)

Bah, have to go now. Someone's starting to practice karate kicks. Lapar kot...

Newsflash! *Grin*Grin*

We are expecting!

Not exactly a surprise to many of you readers ( Still got readers meh?) since most of you are in my FB.

Lil' one will be due in January and so far I'm more than 3 months along.

The 'ugly' moments a.k.a Nausea and morning sickness (evening sickness in my case) is hopefully going away soon. Everyone told me that I should enjoy the experience. Enjoy? How could I enjoy the sensation of my stomach contents turning itself inside out every time I puke every single thing I've painfully and 'sengsara'ly chewed and swallowed just moments before? Now I understand why moms have the usual "Kau tidak tahu betapa sengsara mak mengandungkan kau dulu!!!" as leverage. You wait lil' one, mommy will have that line ready if you ever misbehave... Haha!

So far in the first few weeks I've lost almost 4kg... Mana tidak, I don't have much appetite plus all the vomiting. Only in these last couple of weeks I've sort of gained some appetite. Last weigh in since my first check up, I've gained 700 grammes (maybe I belum pooped yet). Oh ya, I could only take plain water. Any other drinks (flavored/coloured) will be rejected. Sigh. At least I can take air kelapa. Hehehe... Got funny story about air kelapa, tell you next time.

My tummy is starting to show, my hubby say because I memang boroi (cue: ambil parang kasi kerat-kerat dia!). So far hubby's been wonderful. He's the one doing the cooking since I couldn't stand the smell of cooking. Love you lots darling! No crazy-crazy craving 24-7, just occasionally I want to eat certain food which is easily available. Can't say the same for my craving of Nando's peri-peri chicken. Dah la no outlet in Sarawak, aiyoh, luckily a good friend was coming over for RWMF, managed to get him to tapau for me. Yippee! Food aversions? Say NO to curry, prawns and hot chilli (groan). Before this I couldn't live without chilli and curry every week... Kena dera betul.

Now that I'm in my second trimester, some of the kesengsaraan is showing signs of abating. Hopefully the pimples will be gone soon too :-) Can't wait to feel the baby move. The first time I saw the lil' one doing the wiggle-wiggle dance during ultrasound, it felt so surreal.

Gotta go now. Dinner soon. I'm eating for two (ceh, alasan... Bukan boleh makan banyak pun, confirm muntah). Bye for now!

Snapshots: Saran Part 2

I visited them on Sunday. It was raining and somehow my car got stuck on the muddy ground near my brother's house. Great. Thankfully my nephews helped to push my car. Phew!

As usual, I took my camera along and managed to snap a few shots of my favorite subject: my nephew, Saran. :-)

This boy is a natural in front of a camera. Take for example this shot. I wasn't directing him or anything, he just posed like this for me. See how well it turned out to be?

p/s: I've been neglecting my photography hobby. Bogged down with tonnes of work so hopefully during this holiday, I'll manage to take more... :-)

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Going to visit my friend in Saratok tomorrow. Stay over at her place for a few days. Am looking forward for the yummy food that we're gonna enjoy there. LOL! Hopefully will be having nice subjects to photograph there too.

Funny things happened yesterday. 3 of my friends weren't aware that yesterday was payday. Hornbill siap menyumpah2 lagi when she saw a lot of people creating a not-quite-so-rare-nowadays traffic jam in Sarikei. It was when we were at the bank (I was paying for my car) that she suddenly noticed. LOL!

Going to send my car for maintenance servicing today. Huwarghhh... Then off to a much needed carwash. Ciao!

Mini-Shout: Octavious Saran

It feels like just yesterday that I was eagerly waiting for his arrival from the hospital.
Soon, he'll be one year old. He's already starting to take a few steps and he can stand on his own. Soon he'll be running and then the terrible 'hobi-panjat-tangga' age will soon be here.

And real soon, he'll be a big brother to twins.

Yes, my sis-in-law and bro are expecting twins this November.

*smiles* More pics of Saran here.

Dad Says The Dardenest Things (Sometimes)

I recalled this phone conversation I had with my Dad last Sunday over the phone. My Dad had asked me to buy dog shampoo when I went to Sibu for my facials.

Location: Wonderpets, Sibu

Me: Nama bansa shampoo ukoi asuh nuan beli nya?
(What's the shampoo brand that you want me to get?)

Dad: Enda aku ingat, ba rumah Lin aku diatu.
(I can't recall, I'm at Lin's (my sister) house now)

Me: Bah, bakani aku ka meli deh enti enda temu bansa ni nya?
(How am I supposed to buy it if I don't know which brand?)

Dad: Nya botol iya, ke bisi gambar ukoi...
(The bottle has a picture of a dog)

Me: Enti shampoo ukoi mesti la gambar ia ukoi... (dalam hati: enda patut gambar unta..cess)
(If it's dog shampoo of course there'll be a dog in the picture... (mentally: would it be a camel? cess)

LOL!

Anyway, Happy Birthday Aba and Mak! (Sept 10 and Sept 11)
My Dad's 64 and my Mum's 58.

The Birthday 'Boy' and 'Girl'... Hehe

Dad surrounded by (some of) his grandchildren
The food

Took them out for dinner last night. Actually wanted to have steamboat dinner but the restaurant was booked for a function so we went to a seafood restaurant. The food was ok, although I thought the sea cucumber soup wasn't sour enough. The butter prawns were good and I like the garlic kangkung. The perut ahem was just ok for me... Didn't take the midin though.

Meet My (Super)Hero

Why so serious? LOL!

My siblings say that I inherited most of my Dad's traits. Dad's zany sense of humor (although in me it's magnified a hundred-fold. LOL!), passion for teaching (this one all of us siblings got it), cool exterior, musical taste, muka garang and a fierce try-la-if-u-want-to-kena stare (fierce face that'll make a lil' kid wet his pants. LOL!), problem-solver and fix-it-all and loves cats :-)

Mr Rajang 1971 :-)

However, my siblings always complain that I'm too much like Dad also sometimes. Like how?

Like how both of us are stickler for punctuality. If say 7, we really mean 7. God knows how many times I tinggalkan my Sis when she's late.

Like how both of us are bossy. We like things done our way ('cause we know we're right. LOL!)

Like both of us are perfectionist. Second best is not an option.

Like both of us are tech-geeks. My Dad owns a blog. Go figure.

Aba,

Still remember how we were partners-in-crime when you sneaked mum's lipstick and we broke it? What a loooong motorcycle ride we had that evening just to wait until mum cooled off before we dare to come home.

Remember the swimming lessons where I never learn how to swim when you taught me (Whose idea was it to throw me into the Rejang river anyway?) and how you always forced me to see the dentist when I was little, and all those 'drama air mata' we have every mealtimes and makan ubat time, and how stupid I became when it's time for me to recite the multiplication tables in front of you (honestly dad, the sight of you holding a rotan shrivels up my brain matter) and I'd stutter and stammer my way through it all.

Still remember when you caned me when I returned home waaay past 6pm from playing football with my friends. It hurt, Aba, not from the caning itself but from the fact that you are angry at me.

You are a stern disciplinarian, Aba, and for that I must thank you. You taught me the values of respecting others, hard and honest work, and most of all, faith in myself. You've shaped me to be the person I am now.

Aba, you're my hero!

Happy Father's Day Aba... :-)
God bless you always

Love,
your girl :-)

p/s: Happy Father's Day to all dads who visit my blog. Happy Father's Day also to AbaSiko, Aba Simanggang, my brothers, my brother-in-law. :-)

*Giggles*

More than 10 years ago, the pleasant-looking pond/lake was just a fugly marshland and the building at the back did not even existed. Now, the whole landscape of the place is so nicely done. Darn, why didn't it looked a wee bit like this before?
Where the heck is this place?
Yes, it's my former school, the shitty place i spent two years of my life. Why shitty, you ask? 'cause we didn't have teachers for subjects like physics (amazing I did well for my physics examination) and some of our teachers are lazy. Imagine, for 1 semester our BM teacher did not enter our class and the good-for-nothing principal didn't do a f**king thing. It's a miracle that most of us managed to get good results for our SPM despite the setbacks. The only teachers that I really liked are my Maths teacher, Mdm Liew and English teacher, Ms.Lily. Hehe
Now, I am here again. In the same building where I took my SPM, as an Invigilator.
p/s: Still have the annoying noisy people living next to the school block.

My friends introduced me to this makan place. OMG, I really like the food here. 'cause it's steamboat-style and it's supposed to be healthy kan? And I love the fried rice...
Gonna go here next time with my friend for my birthday! Yay!

I tried a recipe (steamed pork with cincaluk) from STP's blog. Wow, marvellous! My mum was puzzled as to where on earth did i learn this recipe. Hehehe... From your org kampung lah mak!
p/s: STP, very sedap lah. Licin habis kena sapu la this lauk...

"Aunty, look at ma chubby-licious cheeks :)"

Baby Octavious Saran is 1 month old. Yay!!!

Hehehe...Ta-dah...
I decided to curl my hair. Together with Jos and Anie, after an intense hasut-menghasut session during our breakfast in Sarikei, we went to Sibu to get our hair styled and done. We tried Jesmine Hair Salon somewhere in the same block as Rejang Bookstore. Be forewarned though, it's very busy and packed during weekends so be prepared to wait. Kinda liked this style also.
What do you think?
p/s: This is the effect of being bored out of my mind while invigilating the exam. Hahaha

Introducing: Octavius Saran

My sis in law delivered a healthy bouncy baby boy yesterday morning at 5.45 am... Baby Octavius Saran weighed 3.39kg and both Mum and baby is doing well ^__^

The whole clan is ecstatic with the new arrival as the last 'baby' is already in Standard 1. My dad is particularly happy (and proud) since Mum remarked that the baby has his forehead..hehe. My brother gave my Dad and I the honour by naming the baby after our suggestions. So,we have Octavius (since he's born in October) Saran (my Dad named him after one of my great grandfathers)...

I love the smell of babies. They have this pleasant smell, especially after their bath, that if I can bottle it and sell it as perfume, I'd be filthy rich. Hehe...

Say Hi to Baby Octavius Saran ^__^ Cuddly kissable cheeks..Hehe

Snapshots: Birthday / Sibu Trip

Check out the candles on the birthday cake... Whose birthday is it? Tell you later...hehehe
-----------------------------------------------

Last Saturday my colleagues wanted to cheer me up so we went to Sibu for some R&R (more like stuffing our fat comel faces with food lah!)
Camwhoring before leaving. FYI, the blanket behind me is made by my paternal grandma. In case of emergency, it'll be one of the first things I grab. Hehehe

Okay, sidetracked a bit..

Back to the trip, we went to De Beauty at somewhere not far from Medan Mall since my friends had an appointment for a facial. The people there were so nice and the also offered me a promotional price for a facial. My verdict: their service was excellent and I liked my therapist, Josephine. The face massage and the neck and shoulder massage was heavenly. I don't really like facials since the blackhead-extraction session is bloodyawful painful, but they managed it without making me wish I was anesthetized first. I'll definitely go there again. Radiant skin, here I come!

After the torture facial session, we went for lunch at Sushi Tie @ Wisma Sanyan. I ordered the Unagi set meal and I absolutely *heart* it...Mmmmm... Unagi...I like

My two friends ordered these Gyu-something and the Chicken Teppanyaki... Nice but still can't beat my unagi lah..Muahahahaha

One thing I liked about this makan place is the free-quent refills of the drinks, in this case, green tea. I like the green tea since it is not of the jasmine variety because I hate the smell of jasmine green tea.

Post lunch, we went to Delta Mall. Went to Kokoberry and had the crepe. Sadly my crepe was not as fresh as I would have wanted although the drinks are fine. Hehe

Then we went to get some stuffs at Farley and before leaving for home, we had some tea at Farley Pinnacle. One thing I liked about this place is the ambiance and the Pinnacle Chicken Wings. Still one of my favourite place for a snack. =)

With S-min, my colleague-in-crime. Haha...
-------------------------------------------------------

Still wondering whose birthday it was?

It's this HOT couple's joint birthday. It was a surprise birthday do that we did for them. Hehehe... Dad celebrated his *cough* 36th birthday and Mum's 6 years younger than he is. Heheheh...

Aba & Mak,
Happy birthday!
May God continue to bless you always.
p/s: Pls nag a lil' bit less. Hehehe

Snapshots: Reunion, Mother's Day

This is not really a reunion but more of a gathering. My relatives from Dad's side from Durin came to visit us. Yummy food galore. Hehehe... I am happy that I'm starting to know more of my extended relatives (Ibans have very huge extended families. And these are from my paternal grandfather's side). I've visited my relatives in Durin before but I do hope to visit them again. Been years since I last visited my paternal grandfather's ancestral home, in Mawan (somewhere in Batang Lebaan area). So far, haven't finished meeting ALL the extended family yet. Still got those in Kanowit, Julau, Pakan, Lasi, Tubah (and that's only from Dad's side!)
Had Rosary prayer in our house last Wednesday. I decided to hold a surprise Mother's Day celebration also to celebrate all the mommies in the prayer group. Here all the mommies (above 50 years old) cutting the cake. Mum was pleasantly surprised (gave her Mum's Day gift ages ago... Hehehe)
Lord God, bless our mothers with good health and strength. Amen.

Lord, bless our Daddies too. Amen.

Snapshots: Kuching & Baby Apu

This is my Mum, Dad with my aunty Rusea with her oh-so-cute-i-want-bite-her-cheeks baby girl Kyra (a.k.a. Apu) posing at the mandatory place to take picture in Kuching (otherwise org sik cayak korang kat Kch). Mum & Dad enjoying their retired life. Ah well, let them enjoy life...
Mum with 2 of her younger siblings. Do they look alike? My uncle looks like ah long (mati la aku if uncle reads this) and before letting him drive, better take that hypertension or ubat sakit jantung first, because his driving skills and language is out of this world scary. I'm closer with my aunty and some of my relatives say that our attitudes is almost the same (kaki pukul@buli). Hahaha
With Mum, Aunty Christina, cousin Danny@Apek and Baby 'Apu'. Photogenic genes runs in the family I guess (perasan).
The superstar diva... Baby Kyra Alexandra Yap @ Apu. My aunty's long (very long) awaited baby girl. Finally dapat jugak baby girl. We call her Apu since she always make 'Apu' sound. Hahah.. siap la kau lekat nama 'Apu'.hehehe. My youngest, cutest, most adorable, no fuss (sebab ni yang aku sayang) cousin.

Mothers

To my two mothers... Mak and Mak Siko

Thanks for being there for me.
Thanks for loving me.
Thanks for accepting me as I am.
Thanks for believing in me.

Thanks for not listening to what the doctors said.
Thanks for proving them wrong.
Thanks for wiping off every feverish sweat.
Thanks for the discipline.
Thanks for the strict schedule.
Thanks for the morning mug of Milo or milk.
Thanks for the yummy foods.

There's so many things that I am thankful for.
But most of all,
Thanks for being my mommy.

Happy Mother's Day!

Hmm... Think I'm gonna treat my Mum and Dad to a seafood dinner at our favorite seafood spot in Sibu. Hehe...
