Was lazily entertaining myself by watching the morning 'toons on TV when my phone rang. It was cousin cum ex-classmate calling from Kuching.
Cousin: Where are you now?
Me : Home. What's up?
Cousin: SL (another former classmate cum neighbour) been trying to get you.
Me : Uh, why is that? I used the other line la
Cousin: She called me to inform that ShannDean passed away...
Me : WHAT?!!!! When? How?
Cousin: On the 2nd Day of CNY. Suicide.
Me : ...
I called SL to confirm the news. None of us (former classmates) was there to attend the funeral. None could believe the news either. ShannDean was laid to rest on the 4th Day of CNY. Each of us are going to contact the others to tell them this sad news. :-(
=================================================
ShannDean was one of the brightest minds in the class. He was the head prefect, soft-spoken and well-mannered, always ready to help others in need. Everyone thought that he would get far in life, to be somebody that will make al of us proud one day. None of us, could ever envisioned that all would end like this.
The brightest mind to be plagued by the illness of the mind and psyche...
Crippling the potential that all did plainly see...
But in the madness we still could sense...
That inside you there's still a soul that cares...
Don't be like me, you said to one...
Yet all too soon you left us without goodbye...
None was there to see you one last time...
Rest in peace and farewell dear ShannDean
In eternal peace in the Father's embrace...
=====================================================
In remembrance of ShannDean, I dedicate the song 'Vincent' by Don Mclean...
Vincent
Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land
{Refrain}
Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue
Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand
{Refrain}
For they could not love you
But still, your love was true
And when no hope was left in sight
On that starry, starry night
You took your life as lovers often do
But I could've told you, Vincent
This world was never meant
For one as beautiful as you
Starry, Starry night
Portraits hung in empty halls
Frameless heads on nameless walls
With eyes that watch the world and can't forget
Like the strangers that you've met
The ragged men in ragged clothes
The silver thorn, a bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow
Now I think I know
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they're not listening still
Perhaps they never will
Please pray for his soul ...
