Oooohhh... I just gotta say something about this.

MPs debate merits of 'Sepet' .Last week it was about the LRT ad (also directed by the same director as "Sepet" and the same person behind those beautiful Petronas ads that we see every festive seasons).

Sepet opened to packed cinemas in Malaysia last month and received rave reviews in the local media for its sensitive portrayal of a romance between a Malay girl and Chinese boy. The multi-lingual script was described as a true reflection of how Malaysians speak.

Sepet, an award-winning inter-racial lovestory directed by Yasmin Ahmad, was described as "nothing great" and a movie which "did not reflect the national identity". In debating the royal address, Datuk Dr Wan Hashim Wan Teh (BN-Gerik) said "rojak language" was used in the movie which also contained two unsuitable scenes - one bedroom scene, and another showing a man in his underwear."I have seen the movie and feel it does not reflect our national identity," he said.

"Praiseworthy films are those which spur a sense of patriotism like Paloh and Embun, and those which promote Malaysian culture.

What??!!! It doesn't reflect our national identity?rojak languages? Haha...Yeah, right Datuk-datuks. All of us, even the makcik in the pasar speaks with perfect bahasa Melayu Baku (so that we sound so very like the dialogues in Embun) or maybe even perfect English. I think Datuk-datuks should take a walk in the pasar and really open their eyes and ears. What you hear and see there is the MALAYSIA Datuk-datuks, not the discussions that you have when you were still an academician. Those discussions are idealist opinions that people like You form without knowing what people like Me think. Its the people that moulds and shapes the culture. The MALAYSIA as we know is the one where we easily switching between languages to articulate our views. Listen to the man on the street, then you will see that what's portrayed in Sepet is and very relevant and true of what being Malaysian is.

As for the bedroom and man-wearing-underwear scenes, so you think that a man will wear a full suit to bed or lepak in the house ke? Nooooo, the man will either wears 'sarong', shorts or even go 'Tarzan'(clad in underwear onli). The appropriateness of the scenes depends on what the scene is portraying. If it's about a steamy, earth-shattering horizontal tango then of course lah cannot. Understand and feel the movie with your heart, look beyond the visuals and understand every aspect of it... Then maybe, maybe you'll be able to understand what it's trying to say.

If that's too hard to accept, next time don't watch Yasmin Ahmad's movie or any movie that attempts to portray the average Malaysians. Just stick to Yusof Haslam and those Metrowealth movies. They're easier for the mind to digest, just like junk food.
No nutritional value but sedap.

Kudos to Yasmin Ahmad anyway for proving yet again that our leaders is being two-faced about wanting creativity and innovations.

Yeah right, and tapirs can fly.

Reading this, it triggers memories...

of childhood memories...
One of my earliest memories when i was just a toddler, was of the elders warning me against wandering on my own (at that time, Dad served as headmaster in a rural school in Kapit). or playing 'perang-perang' (war games) with my cousins and friends.

"you would get caught by the komunis (communists)! Then they'll take you into the jungle"

we would look at them with large, fearful eyes whenever they regale us with tales and experiences during the emergency era. How they feared going into the jungle, the curfews. It has a rather adventorous notion to it and we often tried to imagine how we would've fared had we been there. We imagined that we would be the heroes, defeating the enemy with our superpowers. Ah, the imaginations of a child!

Then there were the movie "Peristiwa Bukit Kepong" (what child born circa late 1970-80's haven't seen it?), it shows the valiant defence of the soldiers and their wives in defending their camp. Then it was the age where all the boys want to be soldiers, girls want to be nurses, while yours truly wants to be an academician (talk about being a maverick). Then, as we grew out of childish games, we started to take the plight and fights of these heroes for granted. They became a mere part of our childhood memories. Only to occassionally resurface when we study history in school.

of the present times...

As I grew older, I began to regard some of the men in uniforms as jocks. People who thinks too highly of themselves just because they are in uniform. In uni, those views are reinforced by the behavior and attitudes of some ROTU kids that I've seen. Then there were an incident where a man in uniform blasted my father (it was a few years back) for his traffic mistake (hey, everyone made mistakes and this was during emergency) in a very high and mighty manner. I was only stopped by my family's pleas for me just to ignore it. I was really tempted and prepared to retaliate with my own acerbic and sarcastic answers, but decided to do the civil thing by calmly writing his name and number instead. Then the officer (must be a sergeant or something), noticing me noting his name and number, quickly ended his tirade and left. Hmmmpphhh...

Don't get me wrong, I do like and value the service of our heroes (some of my family members are men of the uniform). But there are some who tarnishes the image of the uniform with their attitude and behavior. Some were even involved in substance abuse. And these few, they are responsible for marring the image of the force. Clean up the act of the people, and maybe, small people like me may even like them...

And Datuk Seri, I haven't forgotten.

post-seminar

the training seminar could be considered a success despite some minor hiccups here and there. but what pissed me off is that the existence of people who expects to get a free ride.they just did the minimum work required and put the extra burden on others, which is in my opinion, not ethical and irresponsible behavior. if their excuse is that they are working, hey surprise surprise, so are others. so what?

example of their attitude; the airconditioning system inside the theater was leaking, what did they do...nothing. i have to find ways to solve the problem before it got worsen. with the help of the technician, we managed to get two pails to catch those drips, which leads to another problem... the annoying drip drip sound. i went to the nearby shop to buy sponges to reduce the drip drip sound. what the others did? they just sat on their fat behind and some even slept.

anyway, despite those annoying people, the program went smoothly and hopefully will get good marks for this project (though deep inside i loathe that those free riders to get the marks they don't deserve).

when i came back at half-past 6 pm, I was dead tired (i started at 630 am after only 3 hours sleep). I could barely open my eyes to drag myself to take my shower and slept by 930 pm.

What i've realized, I love doing training despite the stress, piles of work... maybe i'll take this area as my career path apart from going into the academic line.

Finally....

I'm able to put up my aching feet and kinda relax. Been very (very sounds like an understatement in my case) busy these few days. On wednesday was on leave from work since I've an exam that night. How did i do? Don't ask but I think I did ok considering the fact that I spent the day before the exam sleeping [and that ladies and gentlemen, is the typical behavior of anakapai. trust her to relax in times of exam].

and so on Thursday i came to work knowing that i have tons of work to catch up with and i was damn right. Not that i was busy with "work" kinda work (the one i get paid for), but for the things that needed to be done for our Training Program. Being part of the evaluation for my course, i can't afford to do it cincai-cincai (my precious a$$ is on the line here). Being the Secretary & Treasurer of the OC, and being the person who's in the campus everyday (hey, whaddya know, I happen to work there), my tasks quickly expanded to be the communications coordinator, crisis centre helpdesk, logistics, clean-up-the-mess-made-by-some-people-who-cancel-caterers-without-back-up-plan, etc... and doing things that the person in charge (supposedly) be doing.

Spent the day running (or speed walking) here and there to get everything done... at the end of the day, thanks to 2 of my friends/colleague, everythings was settled. and yet some people had the nerve to call me and ask me to do something that they forgot to do till the eleventh hour WHEN I SENT THE F**KING REMINDER THIS MONDAY!!!! There is ABSOLUTELY NO F**KING WAY I"M GONNA COVER PPL"S REAR END NOW!!!! Sheesh... Some people are just plain >insert suitable graphic word<... And some of them are professionals... Sheesh...

Let's just hope things are running smooth tomorrow. Hopefully......

..... or I'll kill the person that is responsible for the bumps

Jikustik - Pandangi Langit Malam Ini

Putri, jangan menangis
Hapus air mata
Di wajah cantikmu
Putri, kepergianku
Tak akan lama
Tahan rindumu

Putri, seandainya saja
Kubisa, menghentikan waktu
Kuhentikan waktu

Reff

Putri, percaya padaku
lni hanya likuan hidup
Yang pasti berakhir

..................................................................................................................................

Been listening to this song and can't seem to get it out of my system. Seems like it's gonna be my song of the week or month. heheheh... Blame it on Terr and SUT who've started to play this song at home (Terr : terrer siot main gitar and nyanyi.suara best)

This song's about two lover being separated since the guy had to leave for a while. and so the guy is telling the girl not to cry, and that if she missed him, she'll just have to look at the night sky cause he's there, and if that's not enough, to breathe the morning air cause he's there...and that he'll be back. maybe the separation will teach them about the meaning of meeting each other.

Awwww.... beautiful....
