This Wednesday will be 'cuti peristiwa' for Ching Ming or the Chinese Tomb festival. It is the day when the chinese will visit their ancestor's tomb. Nowadays, more people visit their ancestors' tomb on other days within the week. This is to avoid the *groan* traffic jams (which promptly rules out any road trip for me). On that day itself, I will most certainly be irritated by:
a) the traffic jams
b) the smoke from burning paper money, paper 'clothes', paper TV set, paper mercedes/sportscars, etc.
c) did i mention the traffic jam?
d) i will be stuck at home
e) i can't go take my usual wantan cos' the 'amoi' pun mau lawat kubur ma
f) it's going to be hot and irritating because of the burning cause there a cemetery not far from our housing area (it used to scare the s*!t out of me in my childhood.the cemetery used to be so gila obvious from our house last time.macam main peek-a-boo with the graves.)
......................................
Next week, however, will be our (my family & I) turn to visit our ancestors' graves during the Easter weekend. The last time I went to visit the burial grounds, it was during the 'tomb raiding b@st@rds' were raiding the graves all over Sarawak. Some of my relatives' graves was raided and the valuables or 'baiya'was taken. Some scattered bones were found here and there. Luckily my grandad's was not disturbed. The past few years I was unable to return for the Easter holidays but whether I'll be going to the burial grounds this year depends very much on the state of my allergy to vines and weeds. I wouldn't want to return to school with rashes and scratch marks all over my skin, not to mention suffering severe agony from the itches.
